根源的な豊かさと余白

住まいの根源的な豊かさとは何だろうか。
広さだろうか。
新しさだろうか。
あるいは、多くの機能や性能だろうか。
私たちは人間の原始的な感覚の延長線上にある豊かさを、この住まいの出発点とした。

柔らかな光に包まれること。
安心して身を委ねられる居場所があること。
手や足で素材の質感を感じられること。
そうした感覚の積み重ねが、日々の暮らしを静かに満たしていく。そのことこそが、住まいの本質ではないかと考えた。

玄関からリビングまでの通路を奥からの光が伸びるように繋ぎ、
洞窟のような陰影は空間に奥行きをもたらし、時間とともに異なる表情を描き出す。
壁式構造の躯体は、その場所の風景を静かに切り取り、
構造そのものが持つ厚みは、光や視線に奥行きを与え、暮らしの輪郭と居場所を静かに浮かび上がらせる。
空間スケールに合わせ設えた家具たちは低く抑えたレベルによって視線を遠くへと抜けさせ、
空間の広がりと光の移ろいがより鮮明に感じられる。
自然の光をふんだんに生かすよう、照明の数も極力最小限とし、
オリジナルで製作したブラケットが居場所となる止まり木のように点在する。

使われる素材たちは、仕上げないことの潔さと余白、仕上げることで生まれる奥行きと空気、
その両方を受け入れながら丁寧に選定をした。
時間を感じる既存躯体の豊かな表情を表しながら、床と新たに設ける壁には砂や土を混ぜた左官を用いた。
ふと手を添えたときの質感。
裸足で歩いたときの足触り。
自然素材ならではの温かみを感じさせる表情と、素材そのものが持つ柔らかなベージュは、暮らしの中庸な背景となる。
木材は光によってできる影を助けるように鉄媒染によって深く静かに染め上げた。
玄関と通路の間にある扉にはFRPを用いてほのかに光を透過し、曖昧で柔らかな陰影をつくり出す。

空間と思考。
素材と空気。
それらが静かに積み重なり、日々の充足となる。
住まいは完成された状態で終わるのではなく、暮らしとともに表情を深めていく。
時間をかけて育まれる痕跡や変化までも受け入れながら、
融通無碍な空間として、日々の暮らしのための豊かさを描いている。

Fundamental Richness and Margin

What is the fundamental richness of a home?
Is it spaciousness, newness, or an abundance of functions?
For this project, we looked instead to a more primal sense of comfort: being surrounded by soft natural light, finding a place to settle, and experiencing the texture of materials through the body.
We believe that these simple sensory experiences are what quietly enrich everyday life.
A corridor extends from the entrance toward the living room, drawing daylight deep into the interior. Cave-like shadows bring depth to the space, while changing light reveals different expressions throughout the day.
The existing wall structure frames views between the living room and kitchen. Its thickness creates depth in both light and sightlines, quietly shaping the experience of living.
Custom-built furniture is kept deliberately low, allowing the eye to travel further and emphasizing the openness of the space. Artificial lighting is reduced to a minimum, while custom wall lights are placed like small perches throughout the home.
The material palette embraces both the honesty of unfinished surfaces and the depth created through refinement. Existing structural elements remain exposed, while floors and new walls are finished with plaster mixed with sand and earth, offering warmth through touch and underfoot.
Soft beige tones form a calm backdrop for daily life. Iron-stained timber deepens the shadows cast by natural light, while a translucent FRP door gently filters light between the entrance and corridor.
A home is not completed when construction ends. It continues to evolve through living.
By embracing the traces and changes that accumulate over time, the project seeks a quiet richness rooted in everyday life.
