ARK HILLS SENGOKUYAMA RESIDENCE housing

Depth, Warmth, and Space

A renovation of a residence at Sengokuyama Ark Residence.
Inspired by the residence’s philosophy of harmonizing urban living with nature,
the interior was conceived as a vessel for light and landscape—a tranquil home that offers respite from the pace of the city.
The design places natural light and the greenery beyond the expansive windows at its center,
creating a calm backdrop that allows both to become an integral part of everyday life.
A restrained palette and carefully layered natural materials bring depth and quiet warmth to the space.
Wood, stone, plaster, and textiles complement one another, their textures shifting with the changing light to create subtle layers of shadow and atmosphere.
Hand-finished plaster walls provide a soft canvas for daily life.
Morning light, the long shadows of dusk, the changing seasons, and the furniture, objects, and plants collected over time all become part of an evolving interior landscape.
Rather than pursuing a beauty that is complete from the outset, the home is designed to grow richer through the passage of time.
Depth, warmth, and space gently bridge the city and nature,
enriching everyday life through quiet moments and an enduring sense of calm.
